Not everything you see online is real. Behind the scenes, troll factories operate to spread disinformation, influence opinions, and manipulate public discourse.
First exposed in 2015, these operations—like the infamous Internet Research Agency in Russia, which employed over 300 workers to push propaganda while disguising it as organic content—highlight the scale and sophistication of these efforts.
How Do Troll Factories Work?
– Creating fake social media accounts that appear real
– Posting politically charged or controversial content
– Creating whole websites to authenticate operations
– Engaging in online discussions to manipulate perception
While social media platforms try to fight this internet trolling, these operations continue to evolve. From politics to business and social movements, their impact is massive.
